Flower dissection in Mrs. Church's 2nd grade class.
Day 2 of the flower lab with 6th grade science. We used the microscope to see the cells of the leaves and petals. We also looked at the pollen through the microscope. Thank you again, Rita of Eckert Florist for your generous donation.
6th grade is learning about adaptions, and they dissected lilies donated by Eckert Florist. Thank you, Rita for your donation. The students were able to identify the male and female parts of the lily.

On Thursday, March 20th, Coach Antoine Wooten Jr. came to Pontiac Jr. High to speak to students on Identity, Value, & Character “Awareness” Sports & Athletics go deeper than the stats, the flashing lights, and the fame— Who are we outside of the our performance on the field or on the court? Who are we outside of training & social media? Are we aware of our True Identity & Value? “More than an Athlete” is an In-Depth, philosophical analysis of who we are not just as athletes, but students, coaches, teachers, parents, & holistic human beings. MORE THAN AN ATHLETE: IDENTITY BEYOND PERFORMANCE “TALENT opens the door…DISCIPLINE takes you through it…CHARACTER keeps you in it”-- Here are a few videos from that day! Monday, select Pontiac band and chorus students participated in the Belle-Fair Jazz Festival. It was hosted by Central Jr. High in Belleville. They learned and performed many popular hits such as Jump, Jive, and Wail and The theme to Rocky- Gonna Fly Now.
At our March Assembly, we discussed the character trait of cooperation and invited our WH students to work together to design a mural. Students were asked to create an origami crane/bird to contribute to the project. Here are a few pictures of the creative process and the completed mural!!

The Adventure Seekers class worked on crates, cages, and carriers for our pet shop/vets office.
The Adventure Seeker PreK class went on a sensory scavenger hunt with our buddies. We were looking for sights and sounds of birds.
